Brazil deprives Italy of Ancelotti

Media reports in South America indicated that Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil’s coach, will soon extend his contract as coach of the national team, which means he has ruled out the possibility of succeeding his compatriot Gennaro Gattuso in coaching the Italian national team.

Ancelotti has been leading the Brazilian national team for nearly a year, as he took over in May 2025, after the end of his season with Real Madrid, where his contract initially ran until the end of the 2026 World Cup.

According to the latest reports on the Brazilian ESPN network, Ancelotti, despite his previous contract, has verbally agreed to extend the contract for a period of 4 years so that it will continue until the summer of 2030.

ESPN news network suggests that Ancelotti may officially decide on renewing his contract within the next few days, while a press report had confirmed that the Brazilian Federation had finalized the details of the new contract earlier this week, and the coach’s signature and final legal aspects remain missing.

The details have been agreed upon, and the Brazilian Federation believes that the final review by Ancelotti’s lawyers is just a formality and nothing more.

Ancelotti is scheduled to receive the same salary, which means that he will remain the highest-paid coach in the history of the Brazilian national team, and reports indicate that he receives about 10 million euros per season, not including bonuses.

Thus, Ancelotti is excluded from the consideration of the nomination to lead the Italian national team following the departure of Gennaro Gattuso last Sunday, while reports have recently confirmed that Napoli coach Antonio Conte and Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri are leading the nominations.
