Bayern Munich reaps huge financial gains after eliminating Real Madrid
The management of the German club Bayern Munich expressed its happiness after the exciting 4-3 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League, not only because of the sporting success, but also because of the financial gains that the “Bavarians” will reap.
After qualifying for the semi-finals, where it will face Paris Saint-Germain, the team will receive an additional reward of 15 million euros from the European Football Association (UEFA), thus raising the German club’s profits from the continental tournament to 83.445 million euros from participation fees and performance bonuses.
If Bayern qualifies for the final match next May 30 in Budapest, the winner will receive 25 million euros, while the runner-up will receive 18.5 million euros.
Bayern’s total revenues, including other incentive bonuses and ticket sales revenues from the seven matches held in Munich so far, could exceed 150 million euros.
When asked about the importance of qualifying for the semi-finals, club president Jan Christian Dressesen said: “It is a success by all standards, and I am happy with it in all respects.”
UEFA will distribute about 2.5 billion euros to the teams participating in this season’s edition of the Champions League.
