المملكة: "The hollow" Launches the first national mental health observatory targeting two million beneficiaries


Jouf University launched a qualitative and comprehensive national initiative under the name Psychological indicators in the higher education sector through innovation and development of national standard measurement tools based on accurate and reliable databases, while investing in artificial intelligence techniques in predictive analysis processes for behavioral and psychological indicators, which contributes to supporting decision-making based on field scientific evidence, strengthening early preventive intervention mechanisms, and raising the efficiency of the institutional response to the challenges that may face the university community.

The broad scope of the initiative includes more than two million male and female students in addition to faculty members and administrative and educational staff in 72 participating educational institutions around the Kingdom with the aim of Creating a stimulating educational environment that supports academic success and psychological stability and leaves a sustainable positive impact on the life of the individual and society. The outcomes of this project include launching the National Atlas of Mental Health in University Education and issuing periodic, quarterly and annual reports that serve decision-makers through interactive digital panels that provide constantly updated analytical data.

Early detection of psychological risks

The joint efforts also aim to create a unified national database and adopt specialized national tools to measure and support early detection of psychological and behavioral risks with the issuance of five comprehensive national reports every year and achieving what More than one hundred thousand digital interactions in accompanying awareness campaigns, and training and qualification of more than two hundred male and female mental health ambassadors within universities to spread the culture of preventive awareness and sound health practices.

The initiative goes through six precise implementation stages, starting with the establishment stage and formation of committees, then the technical development stage and building the digital platform, and then the pilot application stage in specific universities, followed by the expanded application stage to include all Saudi universities, reaching the evaluation and sustainability stage to ensure continuous development, and finally the stage of preparing the comprehensive annual report to measure the achieved impact and enhance opportunities for improvement.

With regard to the distribution of roles and responsibilities, Al-Jouf University undertakes the scientific and research aspects by designing tools, supervising advanced statistical analyzes and following up on field application, while the National Center for Mental Health Promotion undertakes the tasks of institutional and professional supervision, managing the official platform of the observatory, adopting national standard tools, and issuing final reports supporting the strategic directions.
