"Abu Dhabi Agriculture" It reviews its projects and initiatives during "UAE Agricultural Conference"

ABU DHABI, April 20 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority is participating with an integrated pavilion in the UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition 2026, which is organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment at the ADNEC Center – Al Ain during the period from April 22 to 26, as part of its efforts to enhance the sustainability of the agricultural sector and support the food security system in the UAE.
Through its participation, the Authority reviews an integrated system of projects and initiatives that cover the various stages of the food value chain, starting from agricultural and animal production, through food processing, to markets, which reflects the integration of government efforts in developing a modern agricultural sector based on innovation and sustainability.
The Authority’s pavilion includes a number of specific initiatives that contribute to supporting the agricultural economy, most notably the development of the food and manufacturing industries sector, where indicators of the sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi are presented, and its role in strengthening food supply chains and raising the added value of local production, in addition to reviewing the facilities and incentive programs provided to investors and workers in this field.
The Authority also highlights the “Abu Dhabi Honey” programme, which represents one of the national models for developing local production, through the application of advanced technologies, including artificial insemination of queen bees, and improving breeds, which contributes to raising the quality of production and enhancing its competitiveness in the markets.
In the field of agricultural innovation, the Authority is reviewing strategic projects that include cultivating cassava as an alternative source that supports the diversification of strategic crops, developing mushroom production using local agricultural media, in addition to smart agriculture 4.0 initiatives that rely on artificial intelligence technologies, sensors and data analysis, which contributes to raising production efficiency and improving the use of natural resources.
The Authority is presenting a project to develop the first Emirati sheep breed through genetic improvement programmes, in a way that is compatible with the local environment and contributes to increasing livestock productivity and enhancing their sustainability.
The Authority also participates in the pavilion and platform of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award, which represents one of the most prominent national initiatives to support farmers and livestock breeders, as the award showcases its achievements in developing the sector and stimulating the adoption of best agricultural practices.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Authority is organizing a series of specialized guidance and awareness workshops, covering the areas of livestock management, which include best practices in managing sheep and goat herds and poultry farms, confronting the challenges of high temperatures in livestock breeding, integrated aquaculture, combating agricultural pests, and adapting to climate change, in a way that enhances the transfer of knowledge and capacity building in the sector.
In the context of supporting local production and stimulating excellence, the Authority organizes specialized competitions for livestock, including the best breeds and the best weights for sheep and goats, with total prizes amounting to about 910 thousand dirhams, in addition to organizing daily auctions that contribute to activating the local market and enhancing the competitiveness of national production.
The Authority is also working to strengthen its strategic partnerships by signing a number of agreements with relevant authorities, which supports the adoption of innovative solutions and enhances the sustainability of the agricultural and food sector.
The UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition is a specialized national platform that brings together decision-makers, experts, investors and farmers, and contributes to accelerating the adoption of modern technologies and promoting innovation, in a way that supports the UAE’s trends towards building a more efficient and sustainable food system.
