DUBAI, 22nd April, 2018 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, affirmed that the education system in the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” has established a pioneering educational model that reflects what he enjoys. Education in the UAE has excellence, flexibility, future-proofing, and global leadership, in addition to its ability to create opportunities in various circumstances, based on its uniqueness as a development model that places education, people, and their quality of life at the top of priorities.
This came during a visit by His Highness, in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah Al Basti, Secretary General of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, today, Wednesday, to the headquarters of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, where His Highness was briefed on the developments of the gradual, safe return to in-person education in various educational institutions in the emirate, which during the past few days received more than 150,000 students in more than 450 educational institutions, according to the highest levels of preparedness, and within comprehensive safety guidelines for receiving… Students, educational and administrative staff.
His Highness said: We in the UAE believe that the human being is the foundation of development, and the creator of its renaissance and global leadership. The UAE has succeeded in building a unique development and civilizational model, and our wise leadership has placed education at the top of priorities as it is the basic foundation for building the human being and empowering him with his attributes and skills derived from a solid national identity, authentic values, and noble morals, instilled by the founding fathers in the people of the Emirates, thus enhancing their readiness to face the future. Our goal in our educational system will remain to build a generation that possesses the skills of the future and talents that Dubai can be proud of and that the world can compare to.
His Highness added: We value the efforts of the work teams at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and what the educational community has provided during the past period. We also appreciate the follow-up and participation of parents, and the efforts of all workers in the education system. We also value the role of teachers in providing stimulating and distinguished learning environments in various circumstances.
During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was briefed by Her Excellency Aisha Miran, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, on the developments in the implementation of the Dubai Education Strategy 2033 in its second year, in addition to the most prominent development projects and initiatives led by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, which aim to build a future educational system that meets the needs and aspirations of every learner, and ensures the availability of a model education for all by designing an integrated educational journey for each learner, starting with The early childhood stage to higher education and beyond, which qualifies them to be active partners in shaping the future of Dubai.
During the visit, His Highness met with members of the Dubai Student Council, where he listened to their ideas and reviewed the most prominent initiatives and projects through which they convey the voice of Dubai students, enhancing their role as an effective communication channel that expresses the aspirations of their colleagues, and contributes to supporting various development initiatives and projects related to the 2033 education strategy in the emirate.
His Highness also reviewed the 20 most prominent change initiatives implemented within the Education Strategy 2033, which aim to redesign the learner’s journey in Dubai. Among them are enhancing the status of the Arabic language, disseminating Emirati culture in the educational community, enhancing the participation of parents by making them aware of their choices and responsibilities, developing life skills among students, the “Qom the Teacher” and “Teach in Dubai” initiatives to attract the best teachers to Dubai and qualify Emirati teachers, and the “Future Astrolabe” initiative to support students in choosing the appropriate professional path, in addition to launching a package of future specific initiatives and projects aimed at shaping the “Dubai Learner’s” journey through… Various educational levels.
Dubai’s education strategy focuses on consolidating the principle of “lifelong learning” and building a generation of learners who are proud of their identity, originality, culture and belonging to their homeland, and at the same time are open to their world and have the ability to chart their own learning paths, everywhere and at any time, in a way that satisfies their curiosity and develops their skills at the various stages of their lives.
