The 4th International Autism Conference continues its work in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, April 26 / WAM / The Fourth International Autism Conference 2026 continued its work for the second day in a row with a number of events, including sessions organized by the Zayed Authority Youth Council for People of Determination, in addition to workshops for a number of experts that highlighted the latest scientific research and studies related to autism.
The sessions, in which a number of university students and parents participated, included lectures dedicated to families sharing their experiences with their children with autism spectrum disorder.
Meanwhile, the Authority’s Youth Council organized a session entitled “Energies Without Borders: Empowering People of Determination in the Labor Market” with the participation of the Authority’s employees of people of determination.
The session stressed that the real wealth is people and that empowering people of determination is a real investment in energies capable of contributing and giving whenever the appropriate environment is available to them, pointing to the Authority’s preparation of the second level program in preparation for work, which was launched in 2023 and its members reached 578 members over a period of two years and contains 20 study units to train the members, qualify them, and hone their skills to enter the field of work.
The activities included a workshop in which Dr. Hamdan Hamdan, assistant professor at Khalifa University and specialist in autism spectrum disorders, spoke about new genetic genes that cause autism.
Hamdan said in a statement to WAM that he and a team of university students are working to determine the identity of these genes and the cause of autism at the nerve cell level, explaining that he is in the process of publishing research in this regard in medical journals.
The second day’s activities also included lectures devoted to families with autism spectrum disorder to support them in overcoming the challenges they face in raising their children, and they received great demand.
Dr. Fidaa Youssef Ahmed Dhiab, the mother of a child with Angelman Syndrome, which is associated with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and hyperactivity, presented a lecture entitled “The Journey of Hope… My Inspiration is a Kindergarten Who Changed My Life” with the aim of educating parents on how to properly deal with their children, understanding their psychological, behavioral and educational needs, helping them accept their children and embracing their differences with love, awareness and patience, and raising community awareness of the importance of supporting children of determination and their families, and promoting A culture of acceptance, compassion, and positive integration within society.
Dr. Fidaa Youssef Ahmed Dhiab told WAM that her experience resulted in her writing a book entitled (A Journey of Hope), in which she reviewed her journey in caring for her daughter.
