المملكة: Al-Ula restricts grazing in reserves… expected requirements and annual licenses for specific periods


The Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate proposed the A regulatory decision regarding the requirements for practicing grazing in its protected areas via the “Estalaa” platform. The step aims to involve the public and beneficiaries in drafting the decision before its adoption, to ensure the protection of environmental systems.

The authority explained that the proposed draft decision targets four main protected areas, including Wadi Nakhla, Harrat Awirid, and Al-Gharamil, in addition to Harrat Al-Zaben. This proposal comes to collect views and proposals in preparation for approving the final version to serve the strategic objectives.

The conditions also included proof of the health safety of the herd and its accompanying animals to ensure the sustainability and safety of the protected environment.

The draft presented for consultation indicated that the duration of one license should not exceed one calendar year for each beneficiary.

The project stressed limiting grazing to the locations, ranges, and times that will be determined and announced by the Authority to ensure that there is no overgrazing.
