The modern pentathlon steeplechase championship begins at the opening of the new Mleiha Racecourse

The first edition of the modern pentathlon steeplechase championship was launched with remarkable success, which was organized by the Emirates Modern Pentathlon Federation in cooperation with the Maliha Sports Club, with the participation of 65 male and female players in the under-15 and general categories for men and women, as part of the federation’s efforts to expand the base of game practitioners and discover new sporting talents.
The tournament witnessed the presence of Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector at the Ministry of Sports and Chairman of the Talent Welfare Committee, Dr. Hoda Al Matroushi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Modern Pentathlon Federation, and Mohammed Sultan Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maliha Sports Club, along with a number of officials, sports figures and parents of players.
Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum announced the opening of the new obstacle course at the Maliha Club, before the start of the competitions, which were characterized by enthusiasm and distinguished technical levels, in light of the variety of physical challenges that require speed, flexibility and focus.
Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum said in press statements: “The tournament reflects the continuous development of modern pentathlon in the country,” noting “the importance of providing competitive platforms that contribute to discovering talent and creating champions,” praising the efforts of the Emirates Modern Pentathlon Federation in supporting the spread of the game and motivating players to participate and develop.
For her part, Dr. Hoda Al Matroushi said: “The tournament represents an important step within the federation’s strategy aimed at enhancing the spread of modern pentathlon and developing the players’ capabilities,” stressing that “the technical and organizational success of the tournament reflects the growing interest in the game, and reinforces the federation’s plans to organize more events during the next stage, in cooperation with sports clubs and institutions.”
In turn, Mohammed Sultan Al Ketbi stressed that hosting the tournament comes within the vision of the Maliha Sports Club to support various sports and enhance cooperation with sports federations, noting the club’s keenness to provide the necessary capabilities and infrastructure for the success of sporting events and attracting young talents.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the top three place holders in the various categories were crowned, amid a festive atmosphere that reflected the organizational and technical success of the event.
