Dubai, 12 May / WAM / The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and the Ministry of Health and Community Protection confirmed the readiness of the national monitoring and response system to deal with any health developments or developments, especially those related to the Hanta virus, and explained that the health preparedness and monitoring procedures adopted in the country are subject to periodic evaluation and review in accordance with best practices and approved standards.
This came during the meeting of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team related to human epidemics, headed by His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Community Protection, under the supervision of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, and with the participation of team members from the relevant authorities and strategic partners.
The latest developments related to the Hanta virus were reviewed, in addition to a review of the national health monitoring and response systems adopted in the country, the precautionary measures in place, and coordination and integration mechanisms with relevant authorities at the local, national and international levels.
The team confirmed the continued implementation of precautionary monitoring measures within the proactive approach followed by the UAE to strengthen the public health preparedness system and response to communicable diseases, with the readiness of health facilities and medical personnel to deal efficiently and effectively with various health cases when needed.
The team stressed the importance of obtaining information from official sources, and not circulating or publishing inaccurate information, stressing the UAE’s firm commitment to protecting public health and promoting community health awareness.
The World Health Organization confirms that the Hanta virus is currently classified as a low-risk virus in terms of global epidemic spread, in light of its limited transmission between humans and the association of most cases with direct exposure to rodents or environments contaminated with their droppings, noting that the current situation does not indicate the presence of risks that would require concern about the occurrence of a pandemic.
