المملكة: The Governor of Al-Ahsa sponsors the closing ceremony of the Al-Ahsa Award for Environmental Sustainability and honors the winners

His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Governor of Al-Ahsa, the closing ceremony of the Al-Ahsa Award for Environmental Sustainability in its first edition, organized by the office of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the governorate, in the presence of a number of officials and representatives of government agencies, the private sector, the non-profit sector and educational institutions, in the Great Hall of King Faisal University

His Highness and the audience watched a visual presentation that dealt with an inspiring success story born from the award, which embodied the experience of an environmental initiative that started from a simple student idea and turned into a project. Sustainable application, which contributed to spreading the culture of recycling and rationalizing consumption within the educational environment, and enhanced environmental awareness among students, reflecting the positive impact of the award in supporting innovation and transforming ideas into realistic, effective initiatives

His Highness also sponsored a ceremony honoring Winnersof the “Green Home” Award in its first edition, which is concerned with motivating families to adopt sustainable environmental practices within homes, and encouraging the optimal use of resources and energy, which contributes to enhancing environmental sustainability

The ceremony witnessed the signing by the office of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Al-Ahsa Governorate of a number of agreements with government agencies and the private and non-profit sectors, with the aim of strengthening institutional partnerships and expanding the scope of environmental initiatives that support sustainability in the governorate

His Highness stressed The Governor of Al-Ahsa said that the support and care the environment sector is witnessing comes as an extension of the interest of the wise leadership – may God protect it – which has made protecting the environment and promoting sustainability one of the most prominent goals of national development, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. In a way that contributes to improving the quality of life and achieving a more sustainable future for future generations

His Highness praised the “Al-Ahsa Environmental Sustainability” and “Green Home” awards, stressing that they represent two qualitative initiatives that reflect society’s awareness and positive interaction with environmental issues, and contribute to consolidating the concepts of sustainability and motivating individuals and institutions to adopt sustainable environmental practices, which enhances the quality of life, raises the level of environmental awareness, and supports efforts aimed at improving the urban landscape and improving the local environment. In order to consolidate Al-Ahsa’s position as a leading national model in environmental sustainability

The director of the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Al-Ahsa Governorate, Dr. Atiya Al-Thaqafi, explained that the two awards witnessed, in their first edition, broad community interaction that exceeded 300 entries, while the total value of the awards amounted to more than 200 thousand riyals, and the honor included a number of categories, including male and female students who own environmental and creative projects, and male and female teachers who support school initiatives.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Highness honored the winners of the two awards, the success partners and the sponsors supporting them, in appreciation of their contributions to the success of the initiative and supporting environmental programs that contribute to raising environmental awareness and promoting concepts of sustainability, stressing the importance of continued integration between various sectors to achieve sustainable development goals
