المملكة: 130 field elements and 98 devices to enhance environmental sanitation in Jeddah during Hajj


Revealed Jeddah Governorate Municipality announced the intensification of its field efforts in environmental sanitation, insect exploration, and public health pest control within its operational plans for Hajj season 1447 AH, within the framework of the municipal services system aimed at enhancing Public health and raising preventive preparedness in locations associated with the movement of the guests of God.

The secretariat explained that the work of the General Department of Environmental Health included sites for receiving and transporting pilgrims at King Abdulaziz International Airport, including the pilgrims’ building and the Haramain express train station at the airport, in addition to the train station in the Sulaymaniyah neighbourhood, in addition to sites for sheltering pilgrims who violate the Hajj regulations and instructions in the Montazahat neighborhood and Huda Al-Sham Road.

It indicated that environmental sanitation plans were implemented according to a preventive methodology that relies on early monitoring and analysis of sites with high operational intensity, through specialized field teams supported by modern equipment and techniques in insect exploration work, which contributes to raising the efficiency of monitoring and identifying potential breeding sites for disease-carrying mosquitoes in accordance with approved technical and health standards.

Specialized equipment and supplies

The secretariat confirmed the support of its field work with specialized technical and supervisory personnel amounting to about 130 field personnel. Administratively, it included field monitors, exploration specialists, supervisors, control workers, and drivers, in addition to operating approximately 98 devices and various technical equipment for monitoring, exploration, and control work, including spraying devices, traps, and exploration bags, as well as a field fleet that included 18 operational and support vehicles, with the aim of enhancing the speed of response and raising the efficiency of environmental sanitation work in sites associated with the movement of pilgrims.

She indicated its adoption in integrated control work. It relies on scientific methods based on studying the behavior of vector insects and their breeding sites, and employing various field interventions using specialized equipment and equipment, which contributes to reducing the causes of environmental pollution and reducing the chances of disease transmission, in addition to enhancing the efficiency of preventive monitoring work in high-density sites.

Intensifying field tours

With regard to the sites for sheltering pilgrims who violate Hajj regulations and instructions, the secretariat explained that it had activated extensive field plans that included equipping exploration and monitoring teams and distributing technical equipment and devices. To support preventive follow-up work, with a focus on quickly processing potential sites and intensifying field tours in the vicinity of shelter sites.

The secretariat confirmed that these efforts come within its integrated plans to raise the level of public health and improve the urban environment during the Hajj season, by employing human and technical capabilities in a way that enhances the quality of preventive services, and contributes to providing a healthy and safe environment for the guests of God and the residents and visitors of Jeddah Governorate.
