Flick speaks for the first time about Hamza Abdel Karim

German Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s coach, spoke for the first time about the team’s young player, Hamza Abdel Karim, who recently joined the Egyptian national team roster.
In the press conference for the match between Barcelona and Espanyol at the end of the Spanish League, Hansi Flick hinted at the possibility of more La Masia Academy talents obtaining opportunities during the preparation period for the new season.
Flick said when talking about Hamza Abdel Karim and the importance of the academy: “We are planning the preparation period for the new season, and I am following closely, and I am looking forward to seeing new faces.”
He added: “When I started training in 2024, it was amazing to see such a high level at La Masia, and the same is happening again this season.”
The Barcelona coach concluded: “When I return at the start of the new season, Hamza may be an option.”
It is noteworthy that Hamza Abdel Karim was called up to the Egyptian national team’s roster to participate in the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.
The 18-year-old is playing on loan from Al-Ahly of Egypt to Barcelona until the end of the current season, with an option to buy at the end of the season.
