المملكة: “Education” uses a weighted score to calculate academic averages

The executive procedures of the student evaluation regulations made it clear that extracting the average depends on multiplying the grade that the student obtains in each academic subject by the number of its weekly classes, to determine what is known as the weighted grade for the subject.
The regulations indicated that the general average is extracted by summing the products of multiplying all academic subjects, then dividing the total weighted grades by the total number of weekly classes for those courses.
The average. Academic grades for grades
The procedures indicated that the academic average for grades from third primary to third intermediate is calculated for each grade separately, and independently of the other.
The Ministry classified the grades for these stages into five levels, including “excellent” for grades from 90 to 100, “very good” from 80 to less than 90, “good” from 70 to less than 80, and “acceptable” from 50 to less than 70, and “fail” for grades less than 50.
Calculating the cumulative GPA
With regard to the secondary stage, the regulations stipulate that the cumulative GPA be calculated by summing Weighted grades for all courses taken by the student, whether they were courses he passed successfully or failed.
The total result is divided by the sum of the classes of those courses, to reflect the student’s academic level in a cumulative and accurate manner throughout his secondary school years.
For the secondary stage, the regulations adopted a scale that includes ten levels, starting with “excellent, high” for grades from 95 to 100, followed by “excellent” for grades from 90 to less than 95, “very good high” from 85 to less than 90, and “very good” from 80 to less than 85.

The rating scale for high school students also included “high good” for grades from 75 to less than 80, “good” from 70 to less than 75, “high acceptable” from 65 to less than 70, and “acceptable.” From 60 to less than 65, and “weak” from 50 to less than 60, while the grade “Fail” is given for grades less than 50.
Through these procedures, the student evaluation system seeks to enhance the accuracy and objectivity of measuring educational outcomes, by linking averages to actual weights, in a way that supports fairness and transparency in the academic evaluation of male and female students.
