Ronaldo scores against Uzbekistan and becomes the first player to score in 6 consecutive World Cups

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal for his country against Uzbekistan, in the ongoing match between them in Houston, in the second round of Group 11 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in America, Mexico and Canada.

Ronaldo’s first goal in the World Cup came in the sixth minute, after Joao Cancelo played a cross from the right side, and Ronaldo directed it with a powerful shot past Abdali Nematov, the Uzbekistan goalkeeper.

Ronaldo (41 years old) became the first player to score in six consecutive World Cups since his first participation in the 2006 edition.

Ronaldo reached his ninth goal in the World Cup, equaling the record of the legend Eusebio, who scored all his goals in the 1966 edition in England.

Ronaldo’s goals in the past editions were divided into one goal and one in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions, four goals in the 2022 edition in Russia, one goal in the 2022 edition, and then his goal against Uzbekistan.

Ronaldo reached his 975th goal in his long football career, which saw him score 144 goals with the Portuguese national team.

Portugal’s national team fell into a 1-1 draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo in the first round of the group, which also includes Colombia.
