Jordan is a strong team and Messi is a backup in front of them

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni confirmed that the team’s captain and star, Lionel Messi, would be kept as a reserve in the match against Jordan in the third and final round of the group stage.
Scaloni said in a press conference on Friday that Messi “will be on the bench in the Jordan match, in order to start in another match, and we will announce the rest of the team tomorrow.”
He added: “You must always take precautions regarding what the opponent has. In this edition of the World Cup, we see that there are teams that play in different styles, and many of them have achieved positive results.”
He continued in his statements, which were reported by the official account of the Argentine national team via “X”: “The greatest credit for everything that has been accomplished goes to the players who commit to attending and training with the utmost effort. I believe that when the opportunity presents itself, there are great players who also deserve to participate. The idea is for the team to play in the same way.”
He stressed, “Jordan is a strong opponent, and we will strive to gain possession of the ball and control the course of the match. The opponent’s attackers are fast and we must keep that in mind.”
Scaloni explained, “I would like to give everyone the opportunity to play, and when I have the opportunity I do it because they deserve it. They are great players too. My dream as a coach is for the team to perform the same regardless of the players who make up the team.”
Scaloni concluded his statements by saying: “If you wear the team shirt and play, it does not matter whether the match is important in terms of points or not. You will do your best to win and nothing changes. We are the same as we were from day one.”
The Argentine national team qualified for the round of 32 after defeating Algeria 3-0 and Austria 2-0.
