Sharjah Chamber records 30,000 memberships in the first half of the year

SHARJAH, June 28, 2018 (WAM) – The performance indicators of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the first half of this year showed the continuation of the economic momentum witnessed by the emirate, recording about 30,000 new and renewed memberships, which reflects the growing confidence of the business community in the investment environment in Sharjah and its ability to attract more companies, entrepreneurs and investors, and confirms the growing position that the emirate enjoys as a preferred destination for doing business and expanding into various economic sectors.

The number of new memberships in the first half of 2026, according to Sharjah Chamber data, reached 2,800 memberships, and the number of renewed memberships reached 26,100 memberships, which varied between industrial, commercial and professional memberships, while the number of new and renewed free zone memberships reached about 900 memberships.

During the first half of this year, the Chamber issued about 30,000 certificates of origin, in addition to completing 911 certification transactions, while the list of the most prominent export markets included Saudi Arabia, which topped the list of countries importing from Sharjah; The value of exports and re-exports to it amounted to more than 1.5 billion dirhams, followed by Kuwait, then Iraq, Qatar and Ethiopia, which reflects the diversity of the export network and the breadth of the emirate’s commercial partnerships and its ability to penetrate various markets around the world, and confirms the advanced position that Sharjah occupies on the map of regional and international trade.

His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadhi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, confirmed that the positive indicators recorded during the first half of 2026 reflect the strength of the economic and investment environment enjoyed by the Emirate of Sharjah and the success of the ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the private sector and enabling it to continue growth and expansion in vital sectors, indicating that the Chamber is working in accordance with the objectives of its strategy for the years 2025-2027 aimed at empowering the emirate’s economy and entrepreneurship and providing a more flexible business environment. Sustainability supports innovation and keeps pace with global economic changes.

He added that the Chamber continues to strengthen its role as a representative of the business community and a partner in economic development by expanding its network of local and international partnerships and supporting national companies in reaching new markets and attracting qualitative investments that contribute to diversifying the economic base of the emirate. He stressed that work will continue in the next phase to launch qualitative initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing the readiness of the private sector to keep pace with the requirements of the new economy and consolidating Sharjah’s position as a preferred destination for business and investment and a regional center for trade, industry and services.
