Salah and Abdel Moneim’s position on participating in the Australia match

Member of the Egyptian Football Association, Mustafa Abu Zahra, confirmed that “Pharaohs” star Mohamed Salah and defender Mohamed Abdel Moneim will be ready to participate in the match against Australia, in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.

Abu Zahra said in television statements: “Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Abdel Moneim will be ready to face Australia, while Hossam Abdel Majeed was ready for the Iran match, but the technical staff preferred to rest him, and the same applies to Hamdi Fathi.”

Salah and Mohamed Abdel Moneim were injured during the 1-1 draw between Egypt and Iran at the conclusion of the seventh group competitions of the World Cup.

Salah (34 years old) left the match ⁠⁠⁠⁠ 11 minutes into the second half, while Abdel Moneim suffered an early injury moments after causing a penalty kick that Iran striker Mehdi Taremi missed.

The Egyptian team qualified for the knockout rounds of the World Cup for the first time in their history after occupying second place in Group G with 5 points after a 1-1 draw with Belgium, a 3-1 win over New Zealand, and then a 1-1 draw with Iran as well.

The Egyptian and Australian national teams will meet in Dallas next Friday evening in the round of 32 of the World Cup.
