Hamdan bin Zayed chairs the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of Abu Dhabi University in 2026

This came while His Highness chaired the first meeting of the university’s Board of Trustees for the year 2026, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Pride Office, and His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamid, Chairman of the National Media Authority, His Excellency Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, His Excellency Maryam Eid Al Muhairi, Head of the Abu Dhabi Media Office, His Excellency Nasser Mohammed Al Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Office of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, His Excellency Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, Advisor in the Office of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and His Excellency Dr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University of Abu Dhabi. His Highness praised the achievements made by Abu Dhabi University, most notably its entry into the top 350 universities in the world in the QS University Rankings 2027, in addition to achieving a rank in the category (201-250) globally according to the Times Higher Education classification in terms of the quality of teaching, scientific research and sustainability. He stressed that these results reflect the level of academic excellence that higher education institutions in the country have reached, and the continuous support given by His Excellency. His Highness the Head of State, may God protect him, for this vital sector.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that Abu Dhabi University will remain a distinguished national model in higher education, scientific research and community service, and a source of pride for the contributions it makes to building humanity and supporting the process of sustainable development in the UAE, in light of the continued support of the wise leadership.

The meeting reviewed the significant development in the academic progress of Abu Dhabi University, which includes more than 65 academic programs in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate levels, covering vital specializations including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced technology, health sciences, engineering, management, and humanities. While the university witnessed an expansion in scientific research, with the number of publications increasing to more than 1,100 papers during the year 2025, in addition to an increase in the number of patents, and an increase in the number of faculty members included in the list of scientists. Most influential in the world.

In the field of academic accreditations, the university continued to enhance its international standing by obtaining accreditations for advanced engineering and administrative programs from international accreditation bodies, in addition to continuing to complete the accreditation of a number of other programs, thus enhancing the quality of its academic outcomes. The university witnessed an expansion in international partnerships, research and innovative programmes, in addition to organizing global conferences and scientific initiatives that enhance the meeting. The meeting touched on future expansion plans, which include launching new programs on the university’s campus in Dubai in the coming years, and expanding specializations in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, law and international relations, in line with the needs of the labor market and global transformations in higher education.
