Despite the high temperatures, thousands of fans watched the victory of Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo over Croatia captain Luka Modric in their final dance on the largest football stage in the world.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored for Portugal from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, Goncalo Ramos scored in the 4th minute of stoppage time in the second half, and Ivan Perisic for Croatia in the 53rd minute of the match.
