Belgium wins 4-1 over America and reaches the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup

Belgium beat America, the co-host, 4-1 in the match that took place between them in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup early on Tuesday, despite Folarin Balogun’s participation as a starter in the match, after the International Federation of Football (FIFA) suspended the penalty for the red card that the player received in the team’s previous match, while the FIFA Appeals Committee rejected the appeal that Belgium filed a complaint against this decision.

Charles De Catellier opened the scoring for Belgium with a brace in the ninth and 33rd minutes, and Hans Vanaken added the third goal in the 57th minute, before Romelu Lukaku rounded off the scoring with a goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

America became the last of the three host countries to exit the tournament after Canada and Mexico.

Belgium will meet in the quarter-finals with Spain, which qualified with a 1-0 win over Portugal.
