Messi continues to break records in the 2026 World Cup

Argentine star Lionel Messi continued his brilliance in his country’s national team’s journey in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, leaving a prominent mark in the victory over England, 2-1, on Wednesday evening, so that the tango dancers qualified for the World Cup final for the second time in a row.
Messi assisted his country’s goals for his teammates Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez, giving Argentina a fatal victory after the England team took the lead with Anthony Gordon’s goal in the 55th minute.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) revealed on its official website that Messi had been chosen to win the Man of the Match award.
Another statistic revealed that the captain of the Argentine national team, the American Inter Miami star, became the oldest player to participate in a World Cup semi-final match, at the age of 39 years and 21 days.
The statistic also added that the former Barcelona and French star, Paris Saint-Germain, has scored 33 goals in the World Cup, where he tops the all-time top scorer list with 21 goals in addition to 12 assists in 6 World Cup appearances.
Messi is preparing for his third appearance in the World Cup final, where he lost to Germany 0-1 in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and participated in the victory over France on penalty kicks after a 3-3 draw in regular and extra time in the last edition in 2022 in Qatar.
