His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, in his capacity as Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, issued a law amending the powers of the Family Development Foundation, so that the Foundation is responsible for providing the necessary guidance and awareness to the family, and providing care for the elderly, which contributes to the development and strengthening of the family entity and its stability in the country. The emirate.

Under this law, the Family Development Foundation is responsible for preparing and developing preventive guidance and awareness programs, providing social services related to the elderly, supportive family services to support them, and providing living assistance systems for them, including home care services, in addition to support and training services for those caring for the elderly.

Under its updated terms of reference, the Family Development Foundation coordinates with government agencies and others to provide volunteer opportunities and participation for the elderly in activities and events, and provides privileges and facilities that meet their needs, in addition to developing and managing day clubs for the elderly, with the aim of enhancing their physical and psychological health.

The new specializations of the Foundation include creating a database for the elderly and those who care for them, conducting studies and research related to family and elderly affairs, analyzing the phenomena and challenges they face, proposing appropriate solutions to them, and coordinating with the relevant authorities with the aim of exchanging information and experiences, which ensures achieving the highest levels of care and attention. With the elderly in Abu Dhabi, enhancing their quality of life, and ensuring their effective integration into society, in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership in building a cohesive and sustainable society.
