Syria: The United Nations mission expresses concern about the security environment in the Golan and confirms that its members remain in their positions

The mission said that since December 7, it had observed a significant increase in the movements of Israeli forces inside the buffer zone and along the ceasefire line, where it had been building anti-movement barriers since July 2024.

It urged all parties to respect their obligations under the agreement, stop all military activities in the buffer zone, and adhere to the terms of the 1974 agreement to maintain stability in the Golan.
She added that this follows an incident that occurred on 7 December when armed men looted weapons and ammunition at UN Site 10A near the Hader area, and that UNIFIL personnel contacted local community leaders and recovered a number of looted items, including most of the weapons and ammunition that had been recovered.
