المملكة: The treated wood project is a step to localize the industry and support the economy
This is a significant step towards localizing the use of palm raw materials in the targeted industries, which contributes to opening new horizons for the national economy.
A pioneering achievement in the Kingdom
In this context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Agriculture, Engineer Ahmed Al-Eyada, explained during his visit to the Palm and Date Research Center that the project represents a pioneering industrial and environmental achievement in the Kingdom.
It contributes to the localization of the plastic wood industry using local palm raw materials, and stressed its vital role in supporting Saudi Vision 2030.
Engineer Al-Eyadah added that the project is being fully implemented by a specialized company, and aims to produce innovative panels that combine palm materials and plastic, to be used in a wide range of products, such as building cladding, exterior flooring, doors, and decorations.
He added that the project’s production capacity reaches 8,000 tons annually, making it the largest of its kind in exploiting palm raw materials, and establishing a sustainable industry that supports the circular economy.
Palm ore processing
The clinic pointed out that the project relies on palm raw materials such as fronds and palm trunks, which are collected through agreements signed with local farmers, to be processed and combined with special materials to produce high-quality wooden boards, noting that these boards are distinguished over traditional wood thanks to their high resistance to moisture and water. Its effectiveness in combating pests such as termites, makes it an ideal choice in the construction sector.
At the conclusion of his statement, Al-Eyadah stated that this project creates a qualitative leap in attracting new investments in the fields of flooring and decorations, and strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a leading center for sustainable manufacturing industries, noting that the percentage of palm raw materials used in these products reaches “50”%, which reflects the keenness of… The Ministry aims to achieve integration between industrial innovation and environmental preservation.
