The National Bank calls for raising the salaries of citizen teachers and issuing legislation to regulate their conditions

The Federal National Council recommended the necessity of issuing special federal legislation to regulate the employment status of educational staff in the government sector, and creating a department within the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education concerned with the quality of life of educational staff, while emphasizing the necessity of issuing unified general rules that regulate the work environment of educational staff in the government and private sectors.

During today’s session (Wednesday), the Council called on the Ministry of Education to amend Decree Law No. 42 of 2024 by adding jurisdiction to the National Center for Quality Education related to reviewing and evaluating the quality of life of educational staff, and to expedite the issuance of the executive regulations of Federal Decree Law No. 18 of 2020 regarding private education.

The Council stressed the necessity of raising the salaries of members of the national educational staff in the government sector, coordinating with various federal and local authorities concerned with teachers in the private sector to study the organization of the work relationship in this sector, and accelerating the development of a system for career progression for educational staff according to a specific path that guarantees gradual promotion and specific material benefits.

During the discussion of the topic “The government’s policy on the quality of life of educational staff and its impact on the outcomes of the educational process,” the Council also recommended amending the teacher’s job description card and defining his job duties in a way that is appropriate for the teaching profession, in addition to developing a training and professional development policy for educational staff, and finding a mechanism to restore the role of the technical mentor in the educational process. The Council’s recommendations emphasized the importance of accelerating the development of policies for evaluating the performance of educational staff, and preparing an awareness plan aimed at improving the image of the teacher and affirming his position in society.
