The Senate discusses a request for a general discussion by the Deputy Coordinator on maximizing the exploitation of Egypt’s mineral wealth

Representative Noha Ahmed Zaki, a member of the Senate for the Coordination of Youth of Parties and Politicians, reviewed the general discussion request submitted by her regarding clarification of the government’s policies towards maximizing the optimal and rational exploitation of Egypt’s mineral wealth, before the plenary session of the Senate, held today, Sunday, headed by Counselor Abdel Wahab. MP Noha Ahmed Zaki said, while reviewing her request addressed to Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Wealth. Mineral, Egypt is rich in many advantages and wealth. Egypt, with its unique location between three continents, in addition to many natural resources, among which is mineral wealth of great economic importance, is qualified, through the proper exploitation of these advantages and wealth, to achieve the real and comprehensive development we aspire to.

The Deputy Coordinator added that with the Egyptian state heading towards development to build the new republic, the development and proper exploitation of natural resources is one of the basic pillars for achieving economic development, especially since Egypt is replete with diverse mineral wealth. Some of them are classified as precious and rare, on which many advanced industries are built, which requires working to properly exploit that wealth, develop it, and give it added value in a way that maximizes national income, and then achieves the development of the Egyptian economy.

Zaki stated: Egypt enjoys enormous and diverse mineral wealth that varies in its properties. Egypt’s mineral wealth includes energy raw materials, which include petroleum materials such as petroleum and natural gas, and solid energy raw materials, the most important of which are Carbon dioxide, such as coal, and radioactive raw materials, such as uranium, which is used in the production of nuclear energy.

She pointed out that energy raw materials, such as petroleum and natural gas, are the main engine of the industry and the driver of all economic activities, and therefore work is required to attract investments in petroleum sector activities and strengthen partnership. With the private sector in all stages of the sector’s activities, including research, exploration, transportation, storage, change, and adding value through the petrochemical industry, this is a vital matter that the petroleum sector has been seeking for years.

She explained. Representative Noha Ahmed Zaki said that the mineral wealth in Egypt also includes other various raw materials that have great economic importance, such as iron, which is the backbone of heavy industries such as the manufacture of cars and trains, copper, which is used in the manufacture of electrical wires, jewelry, and heat exchangers, and zinc, which is used in the manufacture of lithium batteries and electronic devices. , solar panels, anti-corrosion coatings, etc., lead, which is used in the manufacture of batteries, electrical works and construction works, and black sand, which contains a high percentage of heavy metals, is of great economic importance, as it is used in Important strategic industries, including the manufacture of aircraft and automobile structures, as well as various electronic and technological industries, and silica sand, which is used in the manufacture of all types of crystal, electronics, and photovoltaic cells, and there are also precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum.

She continued: Egypt also enjoys With raw materials for chemical industries, fertilizers, refractory and ceramic raw materials, building and paving materials raw materials, in addition to a large quarry wealth, adding that within the framework of all of the above, and under the guidance of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, by working to maximize the exploitation of Egyptian mineral wealth, asks the government to shed light on its policies and strategies related to the management of mineral wealth in Egypt at the level of developing energy raw materials represented by oil and natural gas and attracting investments in the field of research and production and maximizing the added value of that wealth, and also at the level of Other mineral raw materials mentioned above and ways to develop them in order to achieve industrial development.

The Deputy Coordinator called on the government to clarify its strategy related to developing the Egyptian General Authority for Mineral Resources and transforming it from a service body into An economic body and a statement of the time frame necessary to achieve this in order to ensure the development of this important sector to maximize the exploitation of Egypt’s mineral wealth, and to guarantee the rights of future generations from that wealth.
