The British Athletics Federation was accused of causing the death of Emirati champion Abdullah Hayai

British media reported that the British Public Prosecution Service charged the British Athletics Federation and Kate Davies, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 2017 Paralympic World Athletics Championships, with manslaughter in connection with the death of Emirati Paralympic athlete Abdullah Hayai.
The British BBC network said that Abdullah Hayai, 36 years old, was hit in the head with a metal pole during training in 2017 at the Newham Center in East London on July 11, 2017, and his death was announced at the scene.
She pointed out that Hayai was injured while training to represent the UAE national team in the F-34 category for the discus, javelin and shot put competitions at the World Athletics Championships for People with Special Needs in London, where part of the throwing cage fell on him.
She added: “On Wednesday, British police and public prosecutors charged 77-year-old Davies with gross negligence, manslaughter, and committing a health and safety crime.”
She continued: “The British news agency (BA Media) reported that the British Athletics Federation is also facing the same accusation.”
She continued: “British Athletics officials and Davis are scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 31.”

Abdullah Hayyaei has been considered one of the UAE’s champions in his beloved sport, discus and shot put, since 2011, and has won many medals, in various colours.”
