The Foreign Minister discusses by telephone with his British counterpart the latest developments in the situation in Gaza

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, discussed Thursday by telephone with his British counterpart, David Lammy, the developments related to the situation in the Gaza Strip and the agreement reached to exchange prisoners and detainees and the return of sustainable calm to achieve a permanent ceasefire. 

< p>Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Ati briefed his British counterpart on the tireless efforts undertaken by Egypt with Qatar and the United States to reach an agreement. To exchange prisoners and detainees and restore sustainable calm to achieve a permanent ceasefire, Abdel Ati noted the importance of intensifying the penetration of humanitarian aid during the next phase on a large scale throughout the sector, rehabilitating hospitals and health centers, and the return of the displaced to end the human suffering within the sector. 

< p>Minister Abdel-Ati stressed the importance of implementing the agreement and ensuring its validity in its various stages, explaining that Egypt will continue its efforts to implement the commitments in the agreement in full coordination with the states of Qatar and the United States.

For his part, the British Minister was keen, during the call, to confirm his country’s appreciation for the pivotal role played by Egypt and the Egyptian leadership until this important agreement was reached.
