We host world championships for years … and the artistic output “missing”

Athletes emphasized that most of the international and international championships hosted by the state succeeded, despite its continuity for many years, in achieving economic, tourism and promotional benefits, but the sports federations did not invest them to manufacture Olympic Champions citizens, calling on the federations to reconsider all the mistakes that occurred in the past, and preparing new plans capable of benefiting from this sports momentum experienced by the state to achieve technical goals.
They told «Emirates Today»: “The country has become a first kiss for successful hosting at the international level in all fields, including sports championships, and achieved record numbers that are difficult to repeat globally from an organizational point of view, but most of them did not reflect the required form on the completion of the image of a real hero who competes strongly for a medal in the Olympic sessions in particular.”
The Emirati sport only achieved two medals in the history of its Olympic participation, which extends since “Los Angeles 1984”, the first in “Athens 2004” by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashr Al Maktoum, winner of the gold medal in shooting (dirt), and the second in “Rio de Janeiro 2016” by Sergio Touma, winner of the bronze medal in the sport of Judo (weighing 81 kg).
They explained: «Sports itself is an economy that generates huge financial returns in terms of tourism and other facilities, and many organized federations have benefited in finding a financial resource that compensates for the deficiency in its budgets, as some of them worked and succeeded, with the support of the wise leadership and strategic partners, in converting these global hosts into focus points for the development of national athletes.
They continued: «There are several reasons that stood behind the absence of technical benefit from organizing these championships, most notably the conflicts in the secret between the current or previous councils, or even those that intend to run in the future, which lost promising opportunities in achieving the technical goals in the manufacture of citizens of citizens.
Sports federations lack planning
“The atmosphere provided by the state from material support, or by hosting international championships in all individual and group games, the scene prepared for sports federations to manufacture world champions, but unfortunately we failed to invest these ingredients correctly, due to the absence of planning within sports federations, and for the lack of people who are qualified to take over administrative positions at the top of sports work in those federations.”
He explained: «The global, regional and continental championships hosted by the state, in the past years, revealed to us the size of the suffering of our sport at the technical and administrative levels, and confirmed that there is no room for doubt that there are significant distances between us and others, in terms of technical levels and sports culture.
He added: «Everyone in the federations has become his first concern is the chair, and how it takes advantage of it to reach higher administrative positions, whether in continental or international federations, and it has become the work to develop Emirati sport their last concerns.
Saleh Mohamed Hassan pointed out: “I challenge any official in a sports federation to come out to us and announce his plans to prepare an Olympic champion for the next eight years, and this is why the conflicts in secret revolve between the current or previous councils or even those that intend to run in the future, everyone questions some of it.”
Neglecting the benefits of hosting
The former international swimmer, Obaid Al Jasmi, stressed that “the greatest blame for the decline in the level of our players falls primarily on sports federations, which are absent from planning strategies that guarantee the development of our players and the preparation of international champions.”
Al Jasmi said: “Hosting such world championships constitutes a kind of tourist propaganda, highlighting the UAE’s position as a global sporting interface, but at the same time sports federations should take advantage of such championships to achieve the level of their players, and develop their performance through the outputs they presented in the championships, and unfortunately this matter did not happen.”
He added: «The great development available in the infrastructure of the UAE is not felt only by the former players, who have not been available to them, for example, I was suffering in the past the lack of external camps to prepare before any official benefits, even if they have the swimmers who have been experienced by the ingredients such as those who are currently in the Hamdan Bin Muhammad complex, many matters differ for our generation.
Al -Jasmi continued: «Today, the Hamdan Complex has become a kissing of many world champions who come to the Emirates to establish camps in it before the world or Olympic championships, and we must push swimmers to coexist with such international heroes, and know how to live a swimming life, whether inside or outside the ponds, the hero is not made with his artistic performance only, but in his lifestyle on the level of nutrition, sleep and other things that help him achieve results Global ».
He continued: «The atmosphere has become more available to sports federations in a way than any time, whether in terms of material support or holding tournaments throughout the year within the country with international specifications, and that families’ interest in their families regarding exercise has increased significantly, and this helps them to make international champions if they only do the planning process, whether at the short or distant level.
Impact
The former president of the Chess Federation, Dr. Sarhan Al -Muaini, admitted that “the impact of the international championships hosted by the UAE in all games is its reflection on the federations very weak.”
He said: «At the beginning, it must be emphasized that sports federations, in cooperation with sports councils and major institutions in the country, have made great efforts, over the past years, in attracting global, international and regional championships to support local sport and promote tourism, in addition to our success in achieving this goal, to the degree that made the international federations be keen to organize their heroism in the Emirates, but the technical influence of these tournaments in the reality of our local sports has not yet reached the degree that was the degree that was Settled. ”
He added: “There are many reasons behind this negativity, foremost of which is the absence of sports culture from our players, which did not draw them to reach the world, in line with the size of the efforts made by the state to improve the level of sport.”
Al -Muaini continued: “A sport like chess is seen by all players and players as an entertainment sport, although it represents an important (livelihood) resource for players and players in Europe, especially in Eastern Europe, and in my view, the only player who sacrificed a lot for this sport is Salem Abdul Rahman, who lost six years of his academic life in an attempt to reach the world, and achieves what he wanted clearly.”
He continued: “The chess game needs long hours a day for training and large financial budgets. Unfortunately, players and young players do not find enough time to provide these times because of their preoccupation with study.”
He continued: «The passion of our players and our players stops after reaching the university stage, as their mentality turns into other things, because girls think about marital life more, and young men are looking for a job and plowing behind car riding and buying the best forms, which was a dream whose lives are lost, so the efforts made in the past are lost and are still being made to develop the level of Emirati chess sport, due to the cultures of the players And our players. ”
The absence of goals
The former Secretary -General of the Weightlifting Union, Colonel (M) Abdel Karim Mohamed Saeed, stressed that “the absence of the goals set and improvised decisions that were taken without reaching joint understandings within the councils of federations are considered two main reasons in the lack of development of some individual sports.”
He said: «Organizing and hosting many championships, including weightlifting, did not achieve technical gains, which should have been achieved to develop the game and promote it among members of society, and was limited to the hosting side only, which wasted efforts to achieve medals at the regional and global level.
He added: «We have many distinguished players who are able to develop in gyms and clubs, but they lack technical support, which requires the necessity of publicizing weights specialized in weightlifting such as many developed countries of the world, to secure the competitive aspect, the perfect environment, and develop the level of talented players in weightlifting.
He continued: “There were no goals for the future within some unions, due to improvised decisions, and the absence of administrative competencies at the game level, which greatly weakened the development of that sport, which was revealed by the past long years.”
He concluded: “The proper decisions of the boards of departments, and their follow -up in a scientific and practical manner, and the opposite of training, organizational and moral, are the ones that make the players technically, their development and enhance their practice of the sport they love.”
