Chinese exporters participating in the largest commercial exhibition in China revealed on Wednesday that their exports to the United States stopped and their decrease in sales expectations due to the ongoing trade war with the United States.
Zhasu Hyun, the director of the East Swacho, said that its company has stopped shipments to the United States since President Donald Trump announced the imposition of 145% comprehensive customs duties on all products imported from China.
“Basically, there are no shipping companies ready to receive requests, so no one knows the fate of customs duties when the goods arrive,” she added in statements to the Associated Press from its wing at the Canton exhibition, the largest and oldest commercial exhibition in China.
The so -called “mutual customs duties” imposed by Trump on China, and almost all other US trading partners, were a major discussion in the semi -annual exhibition.
Hitting most of the drawings
While the United States postponed the application of most customs duties for a period of 3 months, customs duties on Chinese products are still valid pending a trade agreement between the two countries.
Beijing responded by the imposition of customs duties on American goods, amounting to 125%.
Zhang said that mutual customs duties were imposed in conjunction with the growth of its company’s business in the United States, as Air Dog is selling various models of air purifiers in the United States and more than 90 countries and other region in the world, with a focus on developing countries that have strengthened trade with China within the framework of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative.
She added that her company will wait to see the developments of matters before the transfer of production centers to other countries in Southeast Asia.
Anxiety in Southeast Asia
Many Chinese companies have opened factories abroad since the first Trump state, in an attempt to avoid American customs duties on Chinese products.
While the wave of new American drawings targets Southeast Asian countries with high customs duties, including 49% customs duties on imports of Cambodia and 46% fees on goods from Vietnam.
Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to conduct a tour that includes Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia this week to defend free trade.
