The Dubai International Holy Quran Award is witnessing a record demand for its 28th session

Dubai, June 22 /WAM /The Dubai International Holy Quran Award continued to enhance its global position after its twenty -eighth session witnessed a record demand from the Holy Quran memorizers around the world after the number of applicants to participate exceeded 3400 governorates from 85 countries, within only three weeks of opening registration.
His Excellency Ahmed Darwish Al -Muhairi, Director General of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Action in Dubai, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the award, stressed that these numbers represent a qualitative leap compared to previous sessions and reflect the prestigious position of the award that has the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God bless him.
Al -Muhairi explained that the new session witnessed qualitative additions, the most prominent of which was opening the door for participation for females for the first time through an independent category that expanded from the participation base, in addition to providing a direct personal candidacy of individuals, which contributed to attracting a greater number of contestants from different countries of the world.
He said that the award continues to perform its global mission in serving the Book of God and honoring its preservation through a developmental vision that includes the expansion of the circle of international participation, enhancing arbitration and evaluation mechanisms, and raising the total value of the prizes that amounted to more than 12 million dirhams, with the allocation of one million dollars to the first place winner in the male and female branches, as well as in the branch of the Islamic year.
For his part, Ibrahim Jassim Al -Mansouri, the Acting Director of the Award, indicated that the evaluation committees began studying the registered posts in preparation for the launch of the three evaluation stages that begin to record a visual recitation for three minutes and then remote tests for the qualified followers, which are followed by the final stage during which Dubai hosts the best participants to conduct closing tests in attendance.
He added that the jury is chosen from a group of scholars and specialists according to accurate criteria to ensure integrity and justice in the evaluation and depends on clear controls in preservation, intonation and good performance, and the stage of receiving posts continues until July 20, followed by the initial arbitration stages remotely, then the final tests and the closing ceremony are held during the second week of the blessed month of Ramadan.
