The UAE highlights the opportunities for trade cooperation and expanding investments between countries "Brex"

Rio de Janeiro on July 5/ WAM/ The UAE delegation participated in the “Brax Business Forum”, which was held on the sidelines of the seventeenth “BRICS” group in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, highlighted the close relations between the UAE and the countries of the BRICS, and the vital role of the group in continuing innovation, accelerating trade growth, and enhancing the opportunities for cross -border investments.
His Excellency stressed the importance of developing cooperation in the main sectors, such as logistical services, agriculture, renewable energy, technology, and health care.
The “Brix Business Forum” provided a platform for leaders and representatives of the business sectors from the ten member states of the group, which includes “Brazil, China, India, Russia, South Africa, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Iran, Egypt and the Emirates”, to exchange ideas on enhancing cooperation and partnerships between the governmental and private sectors to activate economic opportunities and deal with the current global geopolitical challenges.
The participation of the UAE in the forum reflects its keenness on constructive cooperation and its commitment to strengthening international partnerships with mutual benefits. The forum resulted in the adoption of a package of initiatives aimed at deepening economic cooperation and concluding new partnerships within the private sector that enhance trade and the flow of investments.
His Excellency Dr. Thani Al -Zyoudi stressed the importance of the forum and the opportunities it provides for communication between the countries of the group with similar trends and qualitative economic transformations.
His Excellency pointed out that the “Brix” community provides a qualitative model in the current economic scene, as everyone seeks to grow on investment, innovation, entrepreneurship and commercial relations free from obstacles and obstacles.
He pointed out that the UAE continues the stages of economic development, by attracting foreign direct investment, supporting new technology -based industries, and concluding free trade agreements with countries that have similar visions, such as members of the Brex Group, such as India, Indonesia and Russia.
His Excellency said: “We are keen to strengthen this relationship to the greatest extent, and build on these established foundations, within vital economic sectors, especially energy, logistics, technology, health care and food security.”
The forum was attended by His Excellency Saleh Ahmed Salem Al -Zarim Al Suwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil.
The trade between the UAE and the “BRICS” countries witnessed qualitative growth, as the volume of non -oil trade between the two sides reached 243 billion dollars in 2024, an increase of 10.5% over 2023.
This momentum accelerated during the year 2025, with an annual growth rate of 18.2%, and an increase of 2.4% over the last quarter of 2024, to reach 68.3 billion dollars, in the first quarter of this year.
The total non -oil exports of the UAE to the BRICS countries increased in 2024 to 39.4 billion dollars, which is nearly twice that size in 2019, while the value of the re -export trade reached 50.5 billion dollars.
The UAE is ranked fourteenth globally in the list of commercial partners of the Brex Group, and in the fifth place in the internal trade scale between the “BRICS” countries, after China, Russia, India and Brazil.
The “Brex” community, which at its foundation, which included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is currently expanding to ten countries, an important part of the global economy, and it includes about 40% of the world’s population and provides about 25% of global gross product. The UAE joined the “Brix” group in 2024, as part of its strategic orientation to enhance diplomatic and economic relations with global markets and establish its supportive role to stimulate global economic growth and prosperity.
