Sun announces the end of his journey with Tottenham after a decade of brilliance

South Korean Sun Hyung-Men, Tottenham Hotspur captain, announced today, Saturday, his departure from the London club this summer, ending a march that spanned ten years in the ranks of the English team.

“I decided to leave the team this summer … it was one of the most difficult decisions I made in my career, but I feel that I presented everything I have for this club daily, inside and outside the stadium,” Sun said during a press conference held in Seoul on the eve of a friendly confrontation against Newcastle United.

Sun joined Tottenham in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen, with 454 games with him, during which he scored 173 goals, and won the Golden Premier League Golden Boot Award in the 2021-2022 season.

The decision to leave came after his contribution to Tottenham’s victory in the European League title at the expense of Manchester United, the first team title in 17 years. “I think I have achieved everything I want with this team,” Sun said.

While Son did not reveal his next destination, reports have been transferred to Los Angeles.

For his part, Tottenham coach, Thomas Frank, described Son as “a legend in every sense of the word”, stressing that the decision to leave comes in an ideal time “in the atmosphere of success.”
