Diwani – Sharjah harvested a new international honor in Istanbul

Istanbul on August 12 / WAM / The “Diwani – Sharjah” project, which belongs to the Emirati designer Hisham Al -Mazloum, received a new international honor within the activities of the first international exhibition of the calligrapher school in Istanbul, to be added to his achievement record as the third honor in one year of its completion.
The designer Hisham Al -Mazloum participated in an international artistic symposium hosted by the Turkish University of Gillishm, during which he reviewed his experience in the design of “Diwani”, which is the first building in the world to mix the art of Arabic calligraphy and contemporary architecture.
The oppressed gave this honor to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in appreciation of his continuous support for the artistic and cultural movement in the emirate, and his leadership in preserving the Arab and Islamic cultural and artistic heritage.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition, which was held during the period from 2 to 13 August at the Center for Culture and Arts at the Taksim Mosque, witnessed the presence of a number of official and cultural personalities from Turkey and the Arab and Islamic countries, as well as representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Badr Award from the Emirates, and the Islamic Center in Kuwait, as well as cultural figures from the countries of the Cooperation Council, Yemen, Syria and Iraq.
More than fifty calligraphers from 13 countries participated in the exhibition, along with a number of leading professors in the art of Arabic calligraphy, where more than 150 artistic paintings and three written tapes representing various schools and methods were displayed in the art of Arabic calligraphy, in addition to a pavilion for the works of the ancient calligraphers.
During the exhibition, the “Diwani – Sharjah” project was highlighted as a unique architectural model, during the last period three prestigious awards, the “Loop Design Awards” for the Best Contemporary Architecture, and the American Vision Architizer for Best Contemporary Building, and the Best Award Architecture for the year 2024 of the Planning and Survey Department of the Sharjah Government.
The project also received a tribute from the Cairo International Forum for Arabic Calligraphy, organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, and in honor of the international conference on “integration between creativity, technology and innovation” organized by Mansoura University in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Hisham Al -Mazloum said: “Diwani project is the embodiment of the idea of craft architecture, and the first building in the world is designed in this way, as it was carefully mixed between the art of Arabic calligraphy and contemporary architecture, so that the relationship between the letter and the building is reciprocal, so the building became from letters, and the letters are part of the building.”
