 The Arab International Reconstruction Authority in Palestine and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have begun the work of removing rubble and opening vital streets in the Gaza Strip, as part of the partnership agreement with the Palestinian Ministry of Public Works and Housing.

The Palestinian Ministry of Public Works and Housing explained, in a statement reported by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), that these works come within the Ministry’s work plan in the Gaza Strip and its role in the Chamber Government operations, which fall within the framework of the comprehensive government plan for emergency response and recovery leading to reconstruction.

 

She indicated that the Authority’s mechanisms have intensified their work in Gaza City to remove rubble and open the main axes as part of an emergency plan aimed at facilitating the movement of citizens and enhancing access to humanitarian and relief services, in preparation for the return of the displaced to Their areas.

 

In the same context, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) mechanisms continued their work in the Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah governorates, in addition to cleaning and opening Salah al-Din Street from Al-Qarara to Wadi Gaza.

 

According to field reports, the amount of rubble removed by the UN program amounted to From August 20 to October 11, about 41,487 tons were cleaned, and 144 road sections were cleaned.

 

It is noteworthy that the Ministry estimated the amounts of rubble in the Gaza Strip at about 60 million tons, and set clear priorities for removal and recycling operations, starting with opening main roads, facilitating the movement of citizens, and ensuring access to basic services and centers.
