The Minister of Health discusses enhancing cooperation with his Iraqi counterpart

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, met with Dr. Saleh Al-Hasnawi, Minister of Health of Iraq, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the health sector. This is on the sidelines of the activities of the opening session of the 72nd session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean of the World Health Organization, which will be held during the period from 15 to 17 October of this month.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting witnessed Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussing the latest developments in work on the joint files between Egypt and Iraq, which represent… A model of permanent and continuous cooperation, stressing that Iraq has a long history in the field of the health system, despite the difficult circumstances that the country has gone through during the past years.
Dr. Abdul Ghaffar added that the meeting addressed a number of topics of common interest, including facilitating procedures for registering Iraqi medicines in Egypt, and discussing opportunities for cooperation in the field of training and exchange of experiences; Especially in the pharmaceutical industry sector, which contributes to supporting technical capabilities and localizing expertise on both sides.
For his part, Dr. Saleh Al-Hasnawi, the Iraqi Minister of Health, praised the clear development witnessed in relations between Egypt and Iraq, especially in the economic and health fields, pointing out the existence of great cooperation in the field of health infrastructure; Egyptian companies are implementing 3 hospital projects that are among the most important in Iraq, which reflects great confidence in Egyptian competence in this vital sector. It also confirmed that Egyptian medicine enjoys a wide presence in the Iraqi market, whether at the level of the private or government sector.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Public Health Initiatives Project Affairs, Dr. Olfat Ghorab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Acdima Company, and Dr. Rady Hammad, Head of the Central Administration for Public Health Affairs.
