Losing the “derby” is painful.. We are working to return Al-Nasr to the golden square

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Nasr Football Company, Humaid Al Tayer, confirmed that his team’s loss in the “Dubai Derby” against Al Wasl 1-2, on Saturday, in the sixth round of the ADNOC Professional League, is a difficult result for everyone, stressing that the club is fully aware of the extent of the responsibility, and is working with a clear plan to return the team to its natural position among the top four in the ranking table.
He told “Emirates Today”: “Al-Wasl has succeeded in winning the (derby) matches during the last three years, and we are well aware of that. We have a lot of work ahead of us, and we are aware of the magnitude of the challenge since the first day we took over the mission.”
He added: “Al-Nasr’s return to the top four requires a lot of time and effort. The last time the team was among the top four was in 2017, and we are now trying to build a team capable of competing. This season we have brought in 13 new players, and we realize that the work is still continuing.”
The head of Al-Nasr Football Company explained: “The team needs additional elements, and we will work on that during the winter transfer period,” adding: “There are clubs that started their project years ago and have reaped its fruits today. We respect this work and believe that continuity and patience are the key to success.”
Regarding the injuries that affected players in the team, he said: “It is not an excuse, but it certainly had an impact, especially the absence of Mehdi Qaidi and Luca, the team captain, who constitute a great technical and moral value within the group.”
Al Tayer continued: “We must quickly close the page on the Al Wasl match and direct our focus on facing Bani Yas in the President’s Cup, which is an expensive tournament for all of us, and we must be fully mentally and technically prepared, because the Bani Yas team that we will face in the cup is completely different from the current version in the league.”
The head of Al-Nasr Company confirmed his satisfaction with the work of the technical staff in the current period, led by Serbian Vladan Jokanovic, indicating that the evaluation will continue until the winter transfer date. He said: “So far we are satisfied with the coach’s work given the available elements, but we know that the team needs more effort, discipline and support, and this is what we will work on in the coming period.”
Al Tayer sent a message to Al-Nasr fans in which he said: “We apologize to our dear fans for the loss, and we thank them for their great attendance and support for the team. We know that the results do not satisfy them, but we promise them to work hard to improve the image and achieve victories. The players feel responsible, and they gave a strong second half despite the numerical deficiency, but we must learn from our mistakes and come back strong in the cup.” Al-Nasr fans have the right to be upset, and we promise them that what comes next will be better.”
