Comet observation "SWAN" In a special location in the sky of the country

Sharjah, October 23 / WAM / The Emirates Astronomical Society spotted comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN), the visitor coming from the outskirts of the solar system, as it passed through a distinctive location in the country’s sky on October 18.
The monitoring and photography process was led by researcher and astrophotographer Tamim Al-Tamimi, a member of the association, who succeeded in documenting the comet’s passage in front of active regions in the Milky Way Galaxy, near the Eagle Nebula (M16) and the Omega Nebula (M17), showing a clear ionic tail.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society, explained that this rare position provided an opportunity to capture a unique scene that combines the comet’s tail with the nebulae in which stars are formed, using advanced digital imaging techniques.
Al-Jarwan pointed out the scientific importance of these objects, saying that they carry raw materials that are believed to have contributed to delivering water and organic compounds to the planets.
The association stressed that these observations give scientists a deeper understanding of the primitive components of the solar system, and enhance the UAE’s position as an active astronomical destination.
