Butti Khamis.. a new talent from the Matar dynasty

Butti Khamis Mattar, a player for the national junior team and the U-17 Al Jazira club, is considered one of the talented players who has a great future ahead of him in Emirati football, due to his technical skills that football experts described as exceptional, especially since he occupies the left-back position, which is one of the rare positions in which it is difficult to find distinguished players.

The player, Butti, is the nephew of Emirati football legend Ismail Matar, the star of Al Wahda Club, as well as his two brothers Adel and Yasser Matar.

Player Butti Khamis told Emirates Today: “My ambition is to continue developing myself until I reach the first team and represent Al Jazira Club in the ADNOC Professional League, and provide the best possible technical performance, ensuring that I participate with the national teams.”

He added: “I hope to reach the level of my uncle Ismail Matar, and this is not an easy matter because of his high potential and great history, but I hope to become better than him… My uncle (Samat) is my role model, and I am happy with the support he gives me, whether in the importance of discipline and commitment in everything, or in training, respect for the coach, and positive relationship with the players, and he always gives me advice that helps me develop.” Butti added that his uncle Khaled Thuwaini led him to play for Al-Jazira after he was close to playing for Al-Wahda Club, when Ismail Matar was still playing for Al-Annabi, revealing that he played in a large number of official and friendly international matches, and scored several goals, including his last goal against the Yemen national team in the recent Gulf Cup tournament in which “Little White” finished in second place.

He concluded: “I aspire to play in one of the European leagues, and I will work to achieve this ambition in accordance with the directives of the coaches in the youth team and the club, and with the follow-up of my father and uncle (Samaa).”

For his part, assistant coach of the UAE junior national team and former international player Nawaf Mubarak said: “The technical and mental capabilities that the player Butti Khamis Matar has are good and qualify him to become a distinguished player in the future, provided that he preserves himself and invests his great passion to develop for the better.”

He added: “I expect a brilliant future for him if he maintains his football growth. He is keen to review his technical level from one match to another, and this is a feature that reflects his keenness to develop himself. He has performed well in his position as left back, and his presence with the junior national team gives him an ideal opportunity to enhance his self-confidence and develop his competitive level.”

He concluded: “Butti appeared remarkably well in the Gulf Junior Cup, and we wish him and his peers more excellence in the future.”
