"Infographic" Draws a mental picture of Jordan: A Jordanian researcher reaps "First honor" PhD in Mass Communication, Cairo

In a remarkable academic achievement, a distinguished doctoral dissertation by the Jordanian researcher Nahawand Abdel Majeed Matar Al-Azzam, public relations specialist at the Accreditation and Quality Commission for Jordanian Higher Education Institutions, was discussed today at the Faculty of Information, Cairo University.

The researcher obtained a doctoral degree with first class honors, for her thesis titled: "Uses of digital infographics in building the mental image of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan through the electronic platforms of official institutions".

​The study, supervised by Professor Dr. Mahmoud Youssef and Professor Dr. Iman Taher, focused on monitoring and evaluating the role of digital infographics and its various applications across official platforms and Jordanian social media pages in building a positive mental image of the Kingdom.

The study reached important results, the most notable of which is that animated digital infographics ranked first in the general total of types used in building the mental image. Tourism issues came at the top of the issues addressed by official platforms using this form of communication. The results showed the Jordanian public’s preference to follow "infographics Political” in building the mental image of the Kingdom.

At the conclusion of her study, the researcher recommended establishing specialized departments for infographics in living languages in the Royal Court and official ministries, and developing scientific curricula specifically for infographic sciences in Jordanian media colleges, and suggested launching annual awards for the best digital infographics to promote the Kingdom globally.

​The discussion took place in the presence of a group of media professors, professionals, and journalists, led by journalist Issa Jad Al-Karim, managing editor of the Rosa Al-Yousef press portal, Dr. Munawer Al-Rajhi, professor of media and journalism in Kuwait, and Dr. Walid Khalafallah, professor of public relations, in the conference hall at the college.

The study concluded that the Jordanian public is keen to follow the forms of digital infographics in building the mental image of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan via the electronic platforms of official institutions. The results showed that the types of digital infographic content that the Jordanian public prefers to follow in building the mental image of the Kingdom via official electronic platforms is “infographics.” Political "  Which came in first place among the total answers of the respondents.  In her study, the researcher recommended creating sections for infographics in living languages ​​in the Royal Court and official electronic platforms, and translating and marketing them well to promote the Kingdom and its activities and events to international public opinion. She also recommended creating sections for digital infographics in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Government Communication based on the latest scientific standards to present digital infographics to build a mental image.
