Abdullah Al Hamed heads the UAE delegation participating in the Arab Media Forum in Beirut

Beirut, October 29 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Media Council, headed the UAE delegation participating in the twenty-first edition of the Arab Media Forum in the Lebanese capital, “Beirut”, which was launched today under the patronage of General Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic, and under the slogan “Media and Sustainable Development, Partners of the Present – Alliance for the Future,” and with the participation of an elite group of ministers, media figures, and decision-makers in the media sector. This year’s forum highlights the vital role of the media in supporting sustainable development goals, and strengthening the partnership between media institutions, governments, and community institutions in shaping a more sustainable future for the Arab region.
His Excellency Abdullah Al Hamed stressed that the UAE’s participation in the forum comes as an extension of a well-established approach based on enhancing joint cooperation and exchanging visions and experiences that serve the future of Arab media work, noting that the forum represents a pioneering platform for constructive dialogue about the growing role of the media in supporting sustainable development paths and formulating a more stable and prosperous future for the Arab peoples.
His Excellency continued: The UAE, under its wise leadership, views the media as a pivotal partner in the process of sustainable development, as its role is not limited to conveying news, but extends to contributing to building community awareness, and consolidating a culture of positivity, innovation and responsibility, in a way that strengthens the partnership of the present and supports the future alliance between media and development.
His Excellency the head of the National Media Office added: We meet today in the city of Beirut, which throughout its history has formed an integral pillar in the Arab media and cultural scene, under the slogan “Media and Sustainable Development…Partners of the Present – Alliance for the Future,” which presents an inspiring practical vision that confirms that the media today has become a motivating force that contributes to directing the path of development and making positive transformation. Sustainable development cannot take root without a media that accompanies it and supports it. The relationship between them is one of integration and partnership in which there is no separation or distance. His Excellency stressed that Building a conscious and influential Arab media is a prerequisite for achieving sustainable development, and enhancing the presence of the Arab region in the global media scene with a responsible and optimistic vision.
His Excellency the Chairman of the National Media Office concluded his statement by emphasizing that the current stage requires Arab media institutions to enhance cooperation and coordination to confront common challenges and keep pace with the rapid transformations in the global communication environment, indicating that the UAE believes that Arab media, when united around the values of professionalism, responsibility and mutual respect, becomes a lever for development and a tool for preserving identity and building a shared future for the Arab nation.
The Arab Media Forum, which was launched in 2003, is considered an Arab platform for dialogue, exchanging experiences, and formulating future visions about the media industry, especially in confronting the challenges of artificial intelligence, misleading content, and the speed of the flow of information, in addition to discussing the future of journalism and visual and digital media in the Arab world.
The forum’s program includes dialogue sessions, workshops, and open meetings that address issues of new media, cybersecurity, public opinion, professional ethics, and media in crises, in addition to the future of the industry in light of the platform economy.
