Omar El Gomati gives Egypt the title of the African Beach Rowing Championship after winning the eighth gold medal

Egypt won the title of the African Beach Rowing Championship for the first time in its history after winning 8 medals during the competitions for the junior, under-23 and general categories, which were held in South Africa, where the title of the last two editions went to the State of Tunisia.
This came after Omar Sharif El-Gamati won the eighth gold medal in the final of the men’s individual skiff event, after his victory over the Tunisian world champion, Rayan. Hafsa.
Omar El-Gamati presented this medal to Egypt, as a result of which the Pharaohs were crowned champions of the African Beach Rowing Championship.
The first gold medals went to the duo Rimas Ahmed and Salma Safwan in the women’s under-23 doubles race, after they won first place in the final over the Tunisian team with a time of 2 minutes and 56 seconds, a full 13 seconds behind the Tunisian team that ranked in place. Second.
In the junior mixed doubles competition, the duo Yassin El Gomati and Maryam Awadallah won the gold medal and first place after they also beat Tunisia with a time of 2 minutes and 41 seconds, beating the Tunisian competitor by 6 seconds.
The Egyptian team also continued its brilliance in the general races, where Ali Hassan and Omar Moussa won the gold medal and first place in the men’s general doubles race with a time of 2 minutes and 48 seconds. To add a new gold to the balance of the Egyptian delegation.
In the junior races, players Ziad Farag and Ibrahim Abdel Latif were able to achieve the gold medal and first place in the junior doubles race.
As for the under-23 men’s competitions, the duo Omar El Gomati and Ziad Morsi won the silver medal and second place after a strong competition with the Tunisian team, which won first place.
In this context, Major General Sharif expressed El-Gamaty, President of the Egyptian Rowing Federation and Treasurer of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, expressed his great pride in what the team’s champions achieved and won the championship title for the first time in Egypt’s history, stressing that this performance reflects the magnitude of the effort exerted by all elements of the system, whether from players or technical and administrative staff.
El-Gamaty explained that the federation is working according to an integrated plan aimed at preparing a generation capable of continental and international competition, indicating that what has been achieved in the current tournament is the result of continuous work and continued support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. And the Egyptian Olympic Committee.
The Egyptian team delegation included Mustafa Al-Attar, board member and head of the delegation, Magdy Afifi, the delegation’s manager, Mahmoud Abdel Halim, the general coach, Adel Badr, the team coach, and Mohamed Fakhry, the fitness and endurance coach.
