Bani Yas deserved to win… and we missed a lot of chances

Baniyas goalkeeper Fahd Al Dhanhani confirmed that his team was close to achieving its first victory this season, but settled for a positive draw 2-2, in an exciting confrontation against its guest Dibba in the seventh round of the ADNOC Professional Football League, stressing that they had many opportunities, considering at the same time that “a point is better than nothing.”

Al Dhanhani said in press statements after the end of the match, which was held in Al Shamkha and witnessed by nearly 1,000 spectators: “We deserved more than a draw. We missed many opportunities, and in football, if you want to win, you must score and maintain your lead. A point is better than nothing, even though our ambition was to win.”

Baniyas had ended its suffering with the absence of goals, but it continued to search for its first victory this season after settling for a positive 2-2 draw against its guest Dibba, thus putting its first point on its score, but it is still in last place, while Dibba raised its score to two points in the penultimate place.

Al-Dhanhani continued: “We conceded two goals from easy opportunities, and they were not supposed to enter our goal. We worked all week to achieve the three points, but we were not successful.”

Al-Samawi was heading towards the first victory before conceding a late goal, as Suhail Al-Noubi opened the scoring in the 12th minute, but Dibba returned to the match through Khaled Abdullah’s goal in the 72nd minute, and Bani Yas regained its lead in the 85th minute through Youssef Nketeh, but the Iraqi Muhannad Ali snatched the equalizer in the 89th minute.

Al-Dhanhani added: “Performance alone is not enough. We need to collect points. We played a great match against Al-Nasr in the President’s Cup, as well as against Dibba. We must continue and work to correct mistakes and achieve victories.”
