Fatwa convoys continue their activity in North Sinai, and fatwa secretaries deliver Friday sermons

The Egyptian Fatwa House continued to send its fatwa convoys to North Sinai Governorate as part of the joint preaching convoys in cooperation with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Ministry of Endowments. The activities of the convoy included the cities of Sheikh Zuweid, Al-Joura, and Rafah, within the framework of continuous cooperation between religious institutions to spread awareness, correct concepts, and enhance moral and societal values.
The convoy witnessed the organization of a number of seminars, lectures, and preaching lessons in the mosques of the governorate, in addition to the Friday sermon, which It addressed the topic of “Children’s Addiction to Social Media Sites,” which is one of the contemporary issues that affects families and societies and affects young people behaviorally and educationally.
Members of the convoy from the Egyptian Fatwa House delivered Friday sermons in a number of mosques in North Sinai, where Sheikh Ibrahim Abdel Salam, Secretary of Fatwa at the Fatwa House, delivered the Friday sermon at Al Salam Mosque in the Baghdad area, and Sheikh Muhammad Khamis, Secretary of Fatwa at the Fatwa Mosque. Baghdad, and Sheikh Osama Muhammad Fathi, Fatwa Secretary at Al-Rahman Mosque in Al-Raysan area.
The Fatwa secretaries addressed in their sermons the warning of the dangers of excessive use of social networking sites, stressing that it may turn from a blessing into a curse if it is misused, due to the wastage of time, the disintegration of family relationships, the spread of backbiting and electronic gossip, and the promotion of negative aspects that are religiously and morally unacceptable. They explained that social media addiction contributes to the disintegration of the societal fabric and immerses individuals in isolation from reality. It also enables non-specialists to take the lead and issue fatwas without knowledge, warning of the danger of this in light of the words of God Almighty: “And do not confine yourself to that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart… He will be responsible for all of these.
The fatwa secretaries called on parents to monitor their children’s use of technology and regulate the time they sit in front of screens, stressing that children’s immersion in social networking sites leads to them losing family warmth and suffering psychological and health problems, in addition to poor academic achievement, lack of self-confidence, and feelings of loneliness and isolation as a result of comparisons. They emphasized that the solution does not lie in the absolute rejection of technology, but rather in balance and moderation in its use, pointing out the necessity of employing it to serve science, communication, and spreading positive values, and that protecting children from the dangers of electronic addiction is a shared responsibility between the family, religious, educational, and media institutions.
The Friday sermons concluded by emphasizing the importance of instilling religious awareness in the souls of children, and ensuring that they are raised in a good manner that protects them from behavioral and intellectual deviations, in response to According to the saying of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family: "Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock."
