Al-Hajri receives the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos and discusses ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries

Abu Dhabi, 7 November / WAM / His Excellency Saeed Al Hajri, Minister of State, received His Excellency Saliumsay Koumasit, Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, His Excellency Santivap Phoumvihan, Minister of Finance, His Excellency Dr. Bouviengkham Vongdara, Minister of Technology and Communications, and the delegation accompanying them at the General Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during their visit to the country.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the UAE and Laos, and reviewed existing areas of cooperation and opportunities for developing them in the economic, investment, technological and renewable energy sectors. The two sides also discussed a number of topics of common interest.

His Excellency Al Hajri praised the distinguished relations between the UAE and Laos, stressing the keenness of both sides to raise the level of economic and investment cooperation, and to support efforts aimed at concluding bilateral agreements related to avoiding double taxation and encouraging and protecting investments, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development for both countries.

The meeting also discussed the exchange of views on regional and international developments, and cooperation in the fields of advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure, as the two sides reviewed opportunities for establishing partnerships between the competent authorities in the two countries in these promising fields.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency Al Hajri expressed his aspiration to make an official visit to Laos, stressing the UAE’s keenness to continue strengthening cooperation and coordination with Laos in various fields of common interest.

On the part of the UAE, the meeting was attended by His Excellency Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Science and Advanced Technology, His Excellency Abdullah Balala, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability Affairs, and a number of senior officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
