Confirmation of the state’s approach to protecting its lands and preventing any illegal exploitation

The United Arab Emirates affirmed its firm commitment to preventing any exploitation of its lands, ports or airspace for any illegal activities, especially those linked to attempts to smuggle weapons to any party to the civil war in Sudan, or other areas of tension.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed its adoption of a consistent approach based on applying the highest standards of oversight and compliance with relevant national laws and international agreements, in a way that enhances security and stability at the regional and international levels. This confirmation comes in the wake of the competent authorities announcing the completion of investigations into the incident of thwarting an attempt to pass a shipment of military equipment to the Port Sudan Authority, in preparation for referring the accused to the competent judiciary. This step reflects the vigilance of the security and judicial system in the country, and its keenness to confront any attempts to exploit the lands of the UAE in acts that violate the law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also affirms that the UAE’s position is firm in rejecting the illicit trade in arms and combating cross-border organized crime, based on its responsibility to support international efforts aimed at protecting international peace and security, and its full commitment to Security Council resolutions and relevant international conventions.
The UAE continues to work closely with its regional and international partners to enhance the system of cooperation and information exchange, in a way that contributes to preventing illegal activities that threaten security and stability in the region.
