National Archives and Library: The UAE has established a unique model of comprehensive societal empowerment

Sharjah, 14 November / WAM / Dr. Hosnia Al Ali, Education Advisor at the National Archives and Library, confirmed that the UAE has established, since its establishment, a humanitarian and developmental approach based on the comprehensive empowerment of the individual and society through integrated policies and initiatives that have affected various groups from childhood to youth, women, senior citizens and people of determination, noting that this approach is not born today, but rather its roots extend back to before the Union, when the founding leaders gave humanity an absolute priority as the focus and goal of development.
This came during an intellectual session entitled “The UAE and Community Empowerment” within the activities of the 44th session of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2025, during which Dr. Hosnia Al Ali gave a presentation that addressed the development of the concept of empowerment in the country, its political, educational and social fields and the role of the family in building the system of values on which the Emirati national project is based.
She stressed that the experience of empowerment in the UAE emerged from an integrated vision of the human being that combines rights and duties and derives its roots from Islamic values that honored the human being and legislated for him ways of participation and responsibility, and that empowerment in its essence is a continuous building process that enhances the citizen’s ability to contribute to the development process, noting that the state has moved with this concept from “political empowerment” to “community empowerment,” which includes education, culture, work, and family.
She said that the Emirati family represents the cornerstone of the project, as it constitutes the first environment in which the values of belonging and identity are instilled.
Al-Ali pointed out that the cultural and educational institutions in the country, including the archives and the national library, contribute to consolidating this concept through knowledge programs that target young people and document national experiences and present them to new generations in a language close to them.
She explained that investing in culture and knowledge is the highest form of empowerment, stressing the importance of the family, school, and community environment remaining an incubator of national values and identity in light of rapid changes.
