The Sheikh of Al-Azhar receives the Chadian Minister of Higher Education and they discuss strengthening religious and scientific cooperation

The Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, received Mr. Tom Erdimi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Vocational Training of Chad; To discuss ways to strengthen joint scientific and advocacy relations.

His Eminence the Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar is proud of its strong historical relations with Chad, noting that 500 Chadian students are studying at Al-Azhar in various educational levels at Al-Azhar, and in various specializations of Islamic and Arab sciences, in addition to medicine, pharmacy, engineering, science and agriculture, and Al-Azhar offers 50 comprehensive scholarships for children of Chad to study at Al-Azhar, and we have three Institutes under the supervision of Al-Azhar, in which 57 Al-Azhar envoys and teachers teach, in addition to two centers for teaching the Arabic language recently established by Al-Azhar. Serving the people of Chad in learning the language of the Holy Qur’an.

His Eminence affirmed Al-Azhar’s readiness to increase scholarships allocated to the people of Chad to study there, and to host new delegations of imams for training at the Al-Azhar International Academy for training imams and preachers, and to hone their advocacy skills in refuting the arguments of extremist groups, which are trying to distort the image of Islam, especially with regard to issues of coexistence, women’s rights in Islam, and other issues.

For his part, the Chadian Minister of Higher Education expressed his happiness at the visit of His Eminence the Grand Imam, the Chadian people’s pride in Al-Azhar as a religious authority and a lofty scientific beacon, and his country’s appreciation for the great support Al-Azhar provides to the people of the African continent, especially Chad, as represented by comprehensive scholarships for Al-Azhar envoys present in our country to spread science and the moderate Al-Azhar curriculum, and train imams. And the Chadian preachers, and the medical and advocacy convoys that Al-Azhar sends in support of the people of Chad.
