Chadian Foreign Minister: Our partnership with Egypt is an African ambition that enhances trade and brings the two peoples closer

Chadian Foreign Minister Abdullah Saber Fadl confirmed that cooperation between Egypt and Chad represents a symbol of a new African ambition, aimed at enhancing intra-trade and bringing the two peoples closer together, noting that bilateral relations have entered a new phase with the direct support of the leadership of the two countries.

Fadl said – during an interview with Cairo News Channel, today, Tuesday – “The Egyptian-Chadian Higher Joint Committee, which held its meetings in Egypt this week, is… The third between the two countries, as the previous committee was held 15 years ago,” pointing out that its convening came in implementation of the directives that followed the summit between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Chadian President in October 2024.

 

He added: “We worked intensively to convene this committee, which allowed us to comprehensively evaluate the course of our relations, launch new projects and open additional cooperation paths that strengthen our old partnership with Egypt, And work to give this partnership a real economic content, and exploit the strategic advantages that the two countries possess.” 

 

He stressed that the political will at the highest level in the two countries represents a basic foundation for strengthening cooperation, explaining that there is a shared conviction in Egypt and Chad that our geostrategic locations are of great importance; Egypt overlooks the Mediterranean and Red Seas, and Chad is located in the heart of Africa as a link between the north and south of the continent, and these advantages are naturally complementary.

 

The Chadian Foreign Minister revealed the push for cross-border projects, including the land corridor from Cairo to Niamey via Libya, and the completion of the optical fiber connection between Chad and Cairo, pointing out that these projects embody the ambition of African integration promoted by the free trade zone. The African continent, saying: “We want this cooperation to be a symbol of a new African ambition that enhances intra-trade and brings the Egyptian and Chadian peoples closer.”

 

He explained that among the agreements that were signed during the committee meetings was a draft agreement on investments, continuing: “The Egyptian presence in Chad is strong and has a long history in various sectors, and we seek to strengthen this cooperation so that Chadians can benefit from Egyptian expertise in the fields of He pointed out the existence of clear decisions to facilitate trade exchange and encourage Egyptian investors to enter the Chadian market. He also revealed great opportunities, including Chad’s ability to supply the Egyptian market with livestock.

 

He touched on the challenges of regional security, saying: “Threats such as organized crime and climate change do not recognize borders, and international cooperation to confront them is crucial,” stressing the existence of An active security and military cooperation framework with Egypt includes exchanging information and training Chadian soldiers and policemen in specialized Egyptian institutes.

 

With regard to the Sudanese crisis, the Chadian Foreign Minister stressed that Egypt and Chad bear the greatest burden of the conflict in Sudan, explaining that the two countries receive thousands of refugees, which has impacts on security, the economy and the environment.

 

He said: “We are the first victims of this crisis. Since the beginning of this crisis, Egypt has provided several mediations, and Chad has participated in all initiatives related to Sudan. We are convinced that the solution will not come from war, but from rationality, dialogue, a ceasefire, and the launch of a comprehensive political process,” stressing that the Egyptian and Chadian positions on Sudan are completely identical, and that the two countries are committed to joint work to support the Sudanese people.
