The Foreign Minister and his Italian counterpart discuss strengthening relations and developing relations in Gaza

Discussed by Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, and Antonio Tayani The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in a telephone call, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and discussed developments in the Gaza Strip and developments in the situation in Sudan.

 

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the two ministers praised during the call the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries, and stressed the common interest in strengthening all aspects of bilateral relations and raising them to broader horizons. Minister Abdel-Aty explained the interest in continuing to support economic and investment relations with Italy and enhancing trade exchange between the two countries, expressing the aspiration to enhance cooperation with the Italian side as well in the fields of energy, renewable energy and natural gas, given the potential that Egypt possesses both in terms of At the level of natural resources or infrastructure, stressing the importance of convening a joint committee between Egypt and Italy as soon as possible, headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries.

 

The official spokesman added that the call also dealt with developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, where the two ministers stressed the importance of implementing the Security Council resolution regarding Gaza and the necessity of enabling the international stabilization force to carry out its mandate in a way that contributes to consolidating the ceasefire and ensuring security for the Palestinian people inside the Gaza Strip. Minister Abdel-Aty also reviewed the efforts made by Egypt to ensure the stability of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement and the implementation of all its provisions, including the political, humanitarian and development aspects.

 

Visions and assessments were also exchanged regarding developments in Sudan, where Minister Abdel Ati stressed the constants of the Egyptian position in support of Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and the preservation of its national institutions, stressing Egypt’s complete rejection of any attempts aimed at dividing the country or harming its stability, reiterating his condemnation of the horrific atrocities witnessed in the city of El Fasher, and the necessity of concerted international efforts for a comprehensive ceasefire and creating the conditions to launch a political process, as well as to launch a humanitarian path that guarantees Unimpeded humanitarian access.
